WE`RE ON A MISSON FROM GOD. |
30.06.2009
So it´s that time of the year again... Birds are singing, people are happy but drowsy from the blistering heat that has hit southern Norway from the past week. And there´s of course a little VW show in a small town in Belgium near the French border: THE EUROPEAN BUG-IN #3!!!!
The SCC bus is packed and ready with it´s new two litre IDA engine, the SCC "Berserk" racecar is ready on the trailer for it´s premiere on the Chimay racetrack and the SCC crew is tipping on their toes to set out for the 3200 kilometer round trip!!!
EBI has in a short time established itself as perhaps the world´s finest VW nostalgia racing event. If you love old racecars and gassers, this is where you want to be for the weekend of 3-5th of july! Some of the old Bug-In legends are taking the trip from the U.S, the VW Gasser Garage are bringing a trailer of old racecars never seen before in Europe. And rumour has it that Mr. Komori of FLAT-4 fame is bringing yet another car to the show. The stage is set for one of Europe´s best VW shows. Where will YOU be this weekend?
SEE YOU THERE!

What a weekend!!! The SCC crew went in full strength to our neighbouring country last weekend. And what a weekend it was!! We started off going to the Arabia Slugs Dyno Day were we enjoyed a couple of beers and some nice food from the barbeque.
Then after stopping for coffee at Kai´s place we went on to Kiikala Airfield on friday evening for.. well MORE beers and barbeque!!!
On Saturday WVOpen officially opened. This is a drag race event put on by the winner of the NA/Street tyre class at SCC last year, Juhani "Jussi" Juränkö. The day brought lots of track action even if the weather was not the best. The show must go on! Oh, and in the afternoon the sun came out!
After packing up the SCC bus we went on to our host´s summer house located deep in the Finnish woods. Beer, barbeque and Sauna all evening!! What a great experience!
On Sunday we went to a track day watching a four hour endurance race with only aircooled vw´s. We´ve never seen anything like it. The perfect ending to a perfect weekend!
We would like to thank all who made the weekend so special for us by making us feel right at home. Especially our GREAT hosts Tomi and Jaakko!!! See you there next year!

BURNING THE MIDNIGHT OIL... |
12.05.09
Staying up late into the night to plan the SCC takes it´s toll. That´s why we came up with the idea of having our own coffee mug! And guess what? We even made a few spares! The SCC official coffee mug is a must have, featuring high quality print in black and orange with the choice between "I love the smell of trackbite in the morning" or "Don´t lower your Standards" printed opposite the SCC logo. A great conversation piece and collectors item. But wait - there´s more! Buy your mug now and we will include free coffee ALL WEEKEND at SCC in august if you bring your mug!!! If that isn´t a good deal we don´t know what is!
We won´t be making any more of these, so be quick and order yours NOW from the webshop!

SCC INTRODUCES NEW MAIN SPONSOR FOR 2009! |
26.04.09
The planning for this years event is coming along nicely. After all, SCC is only a little over 3 months away!
We have now struck a deal with German parts supplier and manufacturer CSP for the main sponsorship for 2009. We are extremely happy with this arrangement as we feel one of the important things SCC and CSP have in common is that we always strive for quality, not quantity! CSP is one of the companies that has really put something back into the VW scene, sponsoring numerous important events like the US Bug-In, European Bug-In, Maikäfertreffen, and now of course SCC.
CSP is expanding their ever growing line of quality German made parts with several exiting new products, some of them could be seen at the Volksworld show in april. A few will also find their way to the SCC bus´s new engine! Watch this space!
Be sure to check out their brand new website http://www.csp-shop.de !
SCC - QUALITY , NOT QUANTITY!

23.04.09 It’s been a while since last update, but fear not, the SCC crew is busy planning the SCC event every day! The bookings floods in from all over the world, racers book their depot spaces and Volkswagen cruisers order their weekend passes. Depot area 1 has now been completely filled up, no more spaces available there. But there are still plenty of spaces in depot area 2, as we have doubled the number of spaces in that area this year! See you in the pits!

31.12.08
As I write this, the old year is coming to an end... 2008 was a year that gave us lots of stuff, record high(and low!) gas prices, the credit crunch but also an amazing Volkswagen show season! Lots and lots of events all over the world was visited by the SCC crew in 2008, ranging from The Volksworld Show in the UK, Bug-Run in Sweden, Bug-In in California, DFL´s´10 year anniversary and Das Drag Day in Germany, European Bug-In in Belgium, not to mention many many other shows and events in Sweden and of course Norway! 2008 was also a very special year for SCC, as it will be remembered as the event that put Norway on the map in the international VW community. SCC took the big leap from being a relatively small event mostly for the local crowd to having visitors from all over Europe and even the US! Sporting both a record in fast drag racing cars on the starting line as well as one in having the largest gathering of war-time VW´s in one place! Needless to say, we in the SCC crew are both humble and honored by the number of people that chose to take the trip!!! 2009 is already in the works and we are sure that it will make an even greater event! We could have chosen the usual "fireworks" picture for this update, but instead here´s´a picture of two of our favorite "Rockets": The "Screaming Mouse" from JPM and CSP´s Type34 Ghia, what a great pair!! Take care, see you in the new year!

18.12.08 The moment we´ve all been waiting for is here: The arrival of the SCC 2008 DVD!!! Kurt Källström and Rivstart Productions have made their best release yet with the 2-disc edition of Scandinavia´s coolest aircooled event! Everything´s there, the outstanding race action, the BBQ party, the vintage lounge, the show & shine, not to mention interviews with people from all over Europe capturing that very special SCC spirit!!! The first disc follows the SCC from the setup on friday morning with showcars, Kübelwagens and racers pouring though the gates and the Friday Night Screwdrivers T-BBQ in the evening, the racing action starting saturday morning lasting all day long until there´s time for... another party of course!!! All of it spiced up with lots and lots of interviews! The Bonus Disc contains a 30 minute "Vintage Special" with interviews with the owner and drivers of some of the rarest VW´s you will ever find in Europe! We´re talking Schwimmwagens, Barndoor buses, Hebmüllers and more! There´s also a follow up on some of the racers who worked trough the night to repair their broken cars and their comeback on Sunday! In addition to a large number of personal bests we might even see a couple of records... The best part? A total runtime of over 2,5 hours! No, scratch that - The BEST part is that you can buy it RIGHT HERE! SCC: YOU´RE IN THE MOVIES!

WHAT´S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? |
14.12.2008 SCC henchman and bus-owner Øyvind Berger is busy these days. Well, he´s always busy but now even more so as the SCC bus is due for a revamp! The old trusty 1600cc engine was starting to show signs of fatigue, and we´ve had a sneaking suspicion that the fact that it spins faster on the starter than it idles may point towards a certain compression loss... The gearbox has also been a bit of a touchy subject... Well, it does what it´s supposed to, but keeping up with traffic when visiting the German Autobahn is just impossible! So what´s in store for it? Well, Øyvind was somewhat inspired when visiting this years excellent European Bug-In show where some crazed Europeans took their buses down the racetrack... So in goes a 4 speed, 6 rib 091 box from Transworks, California! We won´t bore you with tech stuff, but words like "Weddle", "chromoly", "billet" and "reinforced" have been mentioned. Add to this a monster clutch with an even meaner pressure plate, this thing should be able to take a punch or two! Knowing Øyvind, he´ll probably put together something really special in the engine department... The rumors have been many - turbo, IDA´s, NOS, Injection, super heads and more. What will it be? Don´t worry, we´ll keep you posted! CAN HE PUT IT ON THE TRACK???

04.12.08 Nope, we´re not trying to volunteer people to the now world famous SCC air shuttle taxi service. What we ARE doing is calling out to everyone with VW Type 2´s to put them on the Gardermoen track in 2009! We´ve even got a new special class for those of you who are trying to bend the laws of mother nature by making your 1,5 tonne brick go fast down the 1/4 mile: The SCC Fastest Bus Award! Will Rune "The Burnout King" Leirpoll take home the "Smoking" award once again? Will Jan Holm still be the owner of Norway´s quickest type 2? Are plans being laid on the British Isles to take home the award? SCC - VW TYPE 2 BONANZA!

24.11.08 Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but we´ve been quite busy. New jobs, new garage projects, house renovations, the SCC crew has it all! But rest assured, the planning for SCC 2009 is well on it´s way... In the meantime, please check out the features on the SCC in UltraVW, Volksworld and VW Speed! Amazing eye-witness accounts with even better pictures! We´d like to extend our deepest thanks to Matt Keene, Mat Sanchez, Sven Zimmermann and their editors. Stuff like this makes us long even more for the next installment of the SCC adventure! After all, SCC 2009 is only 9 months away... STAY TUNED!

2008-08-20 The fat lady has sung, the sun has set, the show is over. And WHAT a show it has been!!! We archived our goal of getting every kind of VW enthusiast coming to the SCC! We had, amongst many other things: Pre 50 and war-time original cars, a Hebmuller, Schwimmwagen, Resto-Look, Cal-Look, German-Look, Racecars, Buses, Bajas, Buggys, Type 3 and 4, the list is endless. Records were set, burnouts made and wheelies seen like never before. And from the feedback both at the event and on the internet afterwards everyone LOVED it! As far as we know some 1000 people brought something in the region of 400 aircooled cars and over 60 of them raced the 1/4 mile. For those who where there it was proven once and for all that a great event is not made by the sheer number of cars, but by the quality of the cars there. The bar was set high to say the least! People brought their show and race cars from all over Europe. 13 nations were represented! The SCC spirit proved to be alive and well, as many people reported they had never been to an event with such an unique feeling of comradery between fellow VW enthusiasts! The SCC crew has already been harassed by hordes of people wanting to pre-book their ticket to next years SCC!!! Well, rest assured the SCC crew is NOT resting on their laurels! SCC #8 is coming YOUR way in 2009!!! The picture below is of Erik Dahlberg, chairman of the first two SCC´s. It ´s captured at this years event by Volksworld´s´Matt Keene. Erik broke three(3) gearboxes this weekend, and we´ve never seen him so happy. We think that sums up SCC rather well. HOLEY MOLEY!!!
